Should Innocent Lives Be Endangered?

Here is a collection of links regarding the momentum built by the Western countries with nothing but suspicion as the reason to carry out military operations, while we watch. Troops are lending in around Iraq to drop bombs on innocent lives and hurt families who have pledged their life to their country and have been ordered to go to war. If you believe that carrying out the war now on the suspicion of some future hazard should not be permitted, let your Government officials know, let your voice be heard. There is every possibility that the crisis can be resolved diplomatically, especially since Russia and China have criticized the military option, and there is significant Muslim opposition to a military attack.

Allah says in the Quran, if you save one life, you have saved all of humanity; if you take one life, you have killed all humanity...

PICKTHALL Translation of Sura 5:32: For that cause We decreed for the Children of Israel that whosoever killeth a human being for other than manslaughter or corruption in the earth, it shall be as if he had killed all mankind, and whoso saveth the life of one, it shall be as if he had saved the life of all mankind. Our messengers came unto them of old with clear proofs, but afterwards lo! many of them became prodigals in the earth.

The above is my page from 1998 when President Clinton was in office and I wrote a letter to him urging that humane means be employed rather than bombing the country where only innocent lives would be lost, both of the American military personnel and the innocent of Iraq. That war was averted, President Clinton wrote a wonderful letter back, but now, five years later, Bush and Blaire are all decked out to go for another strike and have just issued an ultimatum today, March 7, 2003, the date of March 17, 2003, for Saddam to disarm; that's St. Patrick's Day! I'm sure the Saint is going to turn in his grave and declare "not in his name" as others have done recently, going to war and untold bloodshed in our names. See Truthout.org In preparing for my Navroz Page for March 21, 2003, I came across this page of mine in my links and as I opened the links below, it seems as if not much has changed in the push for war against innocent people.

I firmly believe that if it weren't for the Muslim ethics and way of life, the world scene would be very different. Israel has survived among the sea of Muslim countries and it is the only aggressor and violator of all human rights and nothing has been done to stop him, while the major powers watch this violator without declaring any disarmament or regime change for this little guest country.

Muslims have been taught by the Quran and the Holy Prophet (s.a.s.), to endure with fortitude and that the righteous will win, and to not be first to rise in arms. There are many Americans living happily in all Muslim countries (40,000 in Saudi Arabia alone), and none of their lives have been threatened or profiled but recently, we in the US have been harrassed, profiled, unjustly maligned, and in doing so, the basic laws of this country have been violated, the very principles upon which this country was founded, the very reasons, why the founding fathers fled the mother country, to come and establish in this land, the rules of justice and equality for all without regard to their race, color or religious pursuation.

Recently, all this has changed where it is unsafe to be in this country if you possess a swarthy complexion. You could be a Hispanic, or a Sikh, but you'll be profiled in the name of "homeland security". As I have outlined, that none of the Americans living in Muslim lands have been so harrassed even though their country was attacked by the western powers, but here, in the most advanced, mighty power on this earth, it is unsafe for a Muslim to live. Many have fled to Canada to seek asylum there and ludicrous as it seems, it is a country of choice compared to the US. That civilized country spends money to look after its elderly and provides national health for its people whereas our tax dollars are spent on bombs to make corporations rich, the lives of our youth are risked to send them to a war that is not supported by the people, jobs are unavailable as the money is being apportioned for killing machines.

As a mother of three, after working so hard at various professions and leaving the home while the children were so little, to help support my husband to pay the never ending bills, while retirement is close and the children are close to college age, Lord forbid, one of us falls sick and we don't have an insurance plan to cover the doctor's bills... But, this is still from the warmth of our secure place on earth, what about the mothers whose children have died in infancy due to the military onslaught of the Gulf War, on a defenseless people. This included the first-time use of 300 tons of depleted uranium shells plus a frightening array of other internationally banned radiological, biological, and chemical weapons. Over 140,000 tons of explosives, equivalent to 7 nuclear bombs, were used against the Iraqi society in destroying their environment and infrastructure. I can remain quiet no more and any of you reading my page, please speak up for justice and for humane action as God says: If you save one human life, you have saved all of humanity...

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. said, "Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter."
