"And peace on him on the day he was born, and on the day he dies, and on the day he is raised to life" Holy Quran 19:15

"And I follow the religion of my fathers, Ibrahim (Abraham) and Ishaq (Isaac) and Yaqoub (Jacob); it beseems us not that we should associate aught with Allah; this is by Allah's grace upon us and on mankind, but most people do not give thanks." [12.38]

"He it is Who sent His Apostle with guidance and the religion of truth, that He might cause it to prevail over all religions." [9.33]

"Birthdays of the Ahl-e-Bayt (the Prophet's family) and the Imams and certain important dates of the year were celebrated. Imam took part in the celebrations of the festivals. Local festivals of secular origin, like the "Flooding of the Nile" and "Navroz" (beginning of spring) were also encouraged by the Imam. Imam al-Muiz would hold huge receptions at his palace; processions were taken through the town and the whole town was illuminated."

The above (taken from the History of the Imams page) is a description of the traditional celebration of the birthday of the Imam of the time (Hazar Imam) the progeny of Prophet Muhammad (sas). We are all very happy at the occasion of the birthday of Mowlana Karim Al-Husaini Hazar Imam (as), the 49th descendant, on December the 13th. The world is celebrating the birthday of this Noble Spirit, Ameen.

Mowlana Hazar Imam is making tremendous progress in bringing about peace on earth by dialog and reconciliation rather than propounding a clash of sorts. See for yourself the recent coverage on his activities and we all wish him all the success evermore, Amen. We also thank him for being our spiritual and secular guide and has helped us improve our lot manifold in the last 50 years and before him, his grandfather, His Highness the Aga Khan III. The community is rejoicing everywhere for being fortunate enough to be born in this wonderful sect and to be guided by this Prince of Peace, Alhamdulillah!

Quran Sura 4:174, 175
Yaa- 'ayyu-hannasu qad O mankind! Verily
Jaa- 'akum  There hath come to you
Bur-hanum A convincing proof

Nuram mubiinaa A light (that is) manifest.
Fa- 'ammal'lazina 'aamanu Then those who believe
Bil-laahi wa' -tasamu In God, and hold fast
Bihi fasa-yud-khiluhum fi To Him, - soon will he

Siraatam Mustaqima. By a straight path.
Heaven on Earth

By Ibn Hani Al-Andalusi

Rouse yourself from the sleep
of negligence so that what
shines out in the morning
is not hidden from your eyes!

The heaven you see above
is not the heaven of God,
but it is the earth below
which encompasses that heaven.

The stars submit to him,
but conceal their prostration,
and the sun shields its eyelids
from the brilliance of his light.

He is the intercessor for
the community which follows him,
just as his forefathers
were for their forefathers.

He is the trusted of God
among His servants on earth,
if at all the trusted can
be counted in His country.

This is the beloved one
of the city of Mecca,
and of its mountain paths,
its black stone and the plain.

There is a sign on him
left by the Prophet's marking,
and a splendor about him
which comes from the light of God.

Canadian Minister Kenney Extends Birthday Wishes to His Highness Prince Karim Aga Khan

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Dec. 12, 2008) - The Honourable Jason Kenney, Minister of Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism, issued the following statement on the birthday of His Highness Prince Karim Aga Khan, which is on December 13:

"I would like to extend warm birthday wishes to His Highness Prince Karim Aga Khan.

As a spiritual leader of the Shia Imami Ismaili Muslim people, the Aga Khan is an extraordinary example of compassion and tolerance. This is most evident in the Aga Khan Development Network, which he founded and now chairs. The network, which works towards social, economic and cultural development in Asia and Africa, will be headquartered in Ottawa at a new Delegation of the Ismaili Imamat. This stunning building was officially opened by the Aga Khan and Prime Minister Harper just a few days ago on December 6. I am proud that Canada was chosen to house such a significant structure, the first of its kind in the world.

I had the distinct pleasure of meeting with the Aga Khan several times, most recently during his latest visit to Canada. Each time, I was impressed by a man who has done so much for the Shia Imami Ismaili Muslim people and humanity. In the words of Prime Minister Harper, "his name has become synonymous with humanitarian aid and development in countries beset by conflict and poverty. Just as importantly, he has worked tirelessly as a bridge-builder between faiths and cultures."

His Highness Prince Karim Aga Khan is truly an inspiration and I wish him a long, healthy and blessed life."
