AHMEDABAD:THE HISTORICAL CITY OF SULTANS. It was founded by Ahamed Shah in A.D. 1411 on the site of earlier towns of Karanvati and Ashwal. The Portuguese Durate Barbosa(d 1521) described it " a very rich and well embellished, with good streets and squares supplied with houses of stone and cement." In Sir Thomas Roe's time(1615) "it waa goodly city as large as London." From 1411 to 1511 it grew in size and wealth; from 1512 to 1572 it declined with decay of the Gujrat dynasty; from 1572 to 1709 it renewed its greatness under the Mogul emporers; from 1709 to 1809 it dwindled with their decline; and after 1818 it increased under British rule.

LOSING TOUCH WITH FAMILY: A woman related her story and says that gradually she was losing touch with her famly although they all live together. "We were harly speaking to eachother" she said. Then she realised the reaosns why." We were all having meals at different times. Now I make sure we all meet over at least one meal a day: and you have no idea the difference it nakes."
