PARTNERSHIP WALK (Aga Khan Foundation): CHARITY: SUNDAY MAY 30,1999. ISMAILIS AND OTHER CANADIANS, THROUGHOUT CANADA WALK FOR CHARITY: Do not be ashamed to give a little; for to deceive is to give still less. Give to those who require before they ask; for if you place them under the necessity of stretching out their hands, you take from them their self-respect more than the value of your alms. Give now for you know not what the morrow hath in store for them and for you.

Dear Nina:BATUNI-ESOTERIC FIRMANS MADE BY GAT IMAM SULTAN MOHAMED SHAH AT ZANZIBER 1899- 100 years now. I say:"The secrets of reality cannot be solved by questions and answers, debates, arguments and discussions; no scholars have achieved reality through intelligence for our intelligence is limited, but with required true love and implicit faith. In DIVANE SHAMSH:"If you are lovers's love and seeketh love take keen peniard and cut the throat of bashfulness".It faces all sorts of reproaches; it does not end there but one faces even death. But here there is no fear of death.Death to them is joy than sorrow. It is a happiest moment of their lives.MANSUR Al-Hilaj:He was beheaded when he spoke anal-Haq. "Manur anal-Haq bol utha, Ye woh Ihq tha ke jake Khuda-se mila, Jab dhar chalai to aai nida: Manur tun aur nahi men aur nahi".This spiritual joy of Fannah-Fillah is beyond description."He who knows himself knows Allah, And when he knows Allah he become speechless."

Dear Nina:MOTHER'S DAY: A LETTER FROM DYING MOTHER TO HER DAUGHETR: "I wanted to leave a note to thank you for being such a caring and loving and sweet daughter to me.It will hard on you without a mother, my dear daughter, but others will help, and your Daddy will take very good care of you. Help your little sisters--I know you will--as they will look more and more to you. I want to say thank you sweet-heart for all you have done for me and for being such a lovely, obedient little girl, never giving me any worry. I pray that God will remember me and that we will all meet in the New World". Dear Nina: THE LEARNING: Books are the garden of the learned. The man of learning lives even after his death; the ignorant man is dead, while still alive. The scholar knows an ignorant man, because formerly he was ignorant himself; but the ignoramus knows not the scholar, never having been one. Whoever in his mind reflects a good opinion, learns to distinguish points of error. The truely learned man is he who understands that what he knows is but little in comparision with what he does not know.

Dear Nina:THE HIGHEST TRIBUTE PAID TO HAZAR IMAM :(Final episode): What the President Jorge Sampaio of Portugal said the year during the visit of Aga Khan at Lisbon to lay the foundation of Ismaili Centre in Lisbon:"In Prince Aga Khan,Portugal has a sincere and respected friend, a leader of peerless charisma, a man who devoted his life and the best of his endeavour to the well-being of the community he leads. Yet,beyond this singular dimention, we meet the citizen of the world and his constant concern about peace and understanding amongst nations, about the prosperity of peoples, the development and progress of those who suffer and are thirsty for justice."CHIEF JUSTICE OF EAST PAKISTAN, Mr. S.M.Murshid summed up in his tribute:"In the first place, it has been made by Karim Aga Khan, the bearer of a noble and great name, the leader of millions of men, a front rank world personality, a finished product of Harvard and an erudite scholar in his own right. Secondly it constitutes a sparkling rivulet of wisdom drawn from a flowing fount of perennial values. It welled out in thought that breath and that burn"."Prince Karim developed his personality with the passage of time and today he has created a place for himself in the world with his devotion, sincerety, hard work and dynamic drive. This genius has created such a lasting impression of his wisdom and clear thinking that the critics of the world consider him to be one of the best speakers of our time".

Allah advises us in the Quran to "conduct yourselves with the over-brimming patience". Alhamdulillah! We are also advised how guests should be treated and in turn guests have been tutored in the appropriate treatment of their hosts, i.e. not to upset anyone, especially the host, on whose property they are being "entertained". Mr. H. E. Mohammed is a welcome guest at my website and even though at first I thought his postings were excessive, I allowed him to continue as an elder of our community, who has rendered many devoted services to the community and to the Imam-e Zaman (Imam of the Time). An appropriate quote comes to mind, again from the Holy Quran: Lakum Dina qum, wa liya Din (to us our Religion, to you yours). Anyone who would create unnecessary turbulence at this serene web site is welcome to take their verbiage elsewhere. Khuda Hafiz (may God protect thee!)

Dear Nina: OUR BELOVED SPIRITUAL FATHER SHAH KARIM AGA KHAN IV(Part 4-Early years):The Prince was officially listed on the University roster as Karim Aga Khan. He began his studies there in 1954 and was scheduled to enter the senior(four years) class. Professor Richard Faye of the Chair of Iranian Studies endowed by Prince Karim's late grandfather, called the young prince "an intelligent, serious and charming, but rather a shy boy". Scholastically he was in group one. He was working towards a Bachlor of Arts degree specialising in Middle East history. Prince Karim participated in athletics as a member and the Leverett House intramural hockey team and often skied at Stowe, Vermount. On fair days he was frequently seen rowing on the Charles River. College associates said he was a "quiet fellow" and did not own a car. In his three years at Harvard he seldom came to public attention. In contrast his uncle Prince Sadrudin, is remembered at Harvard as fond of fast cars, skin diving, boating and Persian art.Prince Karim was well known on the Riviera particularly as a yachtsman said a Nice message. With younger brother Amyn he had a narrow escape at Saint Topez when an accident occured on board his yacht. He spent school holidays and University vacations alternatively with his mother in London and with his father at Prince Aly LKhan's Riviera Villa, the Chateau de l'hoizon. He was also a frequent visitor to his grandfather's villa, Yakimour; where he spent several months during his illness. The new spiritual leader of Ismaili Muslims has travelled extensively and much of his travelling was done under the direction of his grandfather. Like his grandfather, he is am voracious reader, and friends say that he can hold a French and an English book in either hand and read them together. May His Highness live long to fulfil his exalted destiny and May Almighty Allah sustain him in his great and noble mission.

Dear Nina:OUR BELOVED SPIRITUAL FATHER SHAH KARIM AGA KHAN IV (Part 3-Early years): In his memoirs written in 1954, the Aga Khan III wrote the following about Prince Aly's first wife, "a fine English woman of beauty, charm, wit and breeding.... before Aly two fine sons, my granschildren, these boys are now at school, and in due course they will go to universities in America- the elder Karim, who shows promise in mathematics to M.I.T.(Massachusetts Institute of Technology), We hope, and the other Amyn, probably to Harvard Law School." When asked about the reference in his grandfather's statement to the atomic age, His Highness said that although he had not had any specialized training in science and physics, he was interested in these subjects."I think my grandfather used this phrase to sum up the future of the world," he added. His Highness said that had not considered so far whether to maintain the tradition according to which his grandfather was weighed against precious stones and metals presented by his followers."The only matter which concern me at present is to be worthy of the calling to which the late Aga Khan has summoned me." he declared. Prince Karim, the new Aga Khan was described at Harvard University as "one of the really top allround men." at the school. Mr.Richard Gill, senior tutor at Leverett House where Prince Karim lived, gave this description.(Will Night respond)

Dear Nina:OUR BELOVED SPIRITUAL FATHER:HAZAR IMAM SHAH KARIM AGA KHAN IV(Part 2-Early years): In a statement issued at Geneva on the 15th day of July 1957, upon being proclaimed the 49th Imam of the Shia Imami Ismailis, His Highness said "my grandfather dedicated his life to the Jamat and Islam both of which for him always came first and above all other consideration. While I was prepared that one day, I might be designated the Aga Khan I did not expect it to be so soon. To follow a great man in a great responsibility has given me no more appreciated honour than to bequeath me His Spirituasl leadership. My life as his, will be dedicated to the service of my followers. In the last months that I have spent with my grandfather and in our many other times together, I have been privileged to work with him and his guidance and wisdom will be of great help to me".Mowlana Sultanb Mohamed Shah wrote in his will the following:"In view of the fundamentally altered conditions in the world in very recent years due to the great chnages which have taken place including the discoveries of atomic science, I am convinced that it is in the best interest of the Shia Muslim Ismaili community that I should be succeeded by a young man who brings a new outlook on life to his high office as Imam".
