to our Prophet Muhammed and his great disciple Ali. (The Salwaat) Purify
our hearts and souls, bless us all, and group us with your virtuous children"

Dear Nina:ISLAM AND ITS HERITAGE:Islamic civilization produced great
statemen, great philosiophers, great doctors, great astronomers; but these
individuals, these precious stones were worked into a tapestry, whose dominant
these was Islam, and this theme remained dominant regardless of the swallowing
up of foreign lands, foreign cultures,foreign languages and foreign people.
It depicts catholicity of Muslim spirit, the universality of its outlook
and practically unlimited capacity for assimilating alien cultures and
invigorating them by imparting to them a new meaning. Islam has enlivened,fecundated
and vitalised all the alien cultures and it has been able to do this because
in itself Islam came to affirm the grand tradition of HUMANITY and rescue
it from being paralysed by false accretions that had been introduced into
its texture of those who had,in utter defiance of the DIVINE LAW, construed
the puropse of Man's life to be not so much the service of God as mean
for securing their own personal aggrandisement.

Dear Nina:WHAT PROPHET OF ISLAM HAS TO SAY ABOUT WOMEN IN ISLAM:Prophet
Mohammad said that men can but follow in the footsteps of their mothers
towards paradise; and it was not for nothing that the first convert was
a woman."Heaven lies beneath the foot of thy mother". Even Prophet has
given higher grade to women. If a woman has both, religious and worldly
education she can educate her family better than the man who hardly gets
time from worldly problems. A woman, no matter how busy she is, will devote
all the time she can to her family and children for after all she is mother
of the family and is responsible for the future upliftment of the country.

This is very good. But I think you should explain that a majority of
people in Islam have interpreted it in their on way- which is usually completely
wrong. Eg; The Taliban in Afghanistan makes women wear the Burka and forbids
them from talking to any males they don't know- even shopkeepers!This is
clearly against Islam and sinful.

The Salaam and greetings for a Muslims always begins and ends with
the name of ALLAH alone. ASSALAM-U-ALIAKUM ALL. A very nice and infomative
website. Would be more better if the Whole of Holy Quran with english translation
and explanation is also included in this website. May Allah guide us all

Dear Nina:TAJIKI ISMAILIS:FORGING BONDS IN CANADA AND U.S.: When I
attended the cultural show during the weekend at Jack Singer Hall Theatre
in Calgary, it was a rare treat by Ismailis from Tajikistan to give cultural
performances to establsih and renew the bonds with Alberta Ismailis:Ismailism
in Badakhashan remained landlocked in Pamir Mountains until the collapse
of Soviet empire. The cultural shows were sprinkled with exhibition of
their artifacts and painting at City Hall Atrium depicting their lives.
What amazed me was that in Edmonton and Calgary non-Ismailis and Government
officals were seen in a conspicuous manner.They were received and feted
by Jamat with great exuberance.
