This Persian calligraphy invokes prayers that are dedicated to our Prophet
Muhammed and Hazrat Ali. I think it reads: "O Allah Give your blessings
to our Prophet Muhammed and his great disciple Ali. (The Salwaat) Purify
our hearts and souls, bless us all, and group us with your virtuous children"

MODERATION AND EQUIPOISE: Islamic ethics untilise the basic principles
of mental hygiene. They teach that human beings should always expect relative
and not absolute achievement in whatever they do or feel; that they should
deal with the world as it is and not turn from reality. Life should be
faced as it is and not as it is hoped, expected or feared it may become.
Allowance is made for the natural tendencies and frailties which prevail
in humanity, without ignoring the claim of the fundamental instincts of
human life. There is no relinquishment of rational control, struggle and
adjustment, the dominent note being a sense of moderation and equipoise.Don't
be smaller than yourself.Stand at real height against some higher nature,to
show real smallness and greatest greatness.

Hi, I found this web site was put together very well. The information
helped me alot in my school reasearch study on the Shia Ismailies. It would
be very helpful if there were to be a little more indepth on our history.
Since the community seems to be getting very popular, espesially with the
youth in our community I think there will be a greater interest on the
founders and past rulers of Shia Ismailies in particular.

TALENT CONTEST:Organised by Ismaili Group in Karchi,Pakistan is laudable. There
is widespread belief that to reach high levels of ability, a person must
possess an innate potential call talent. But no case has been found of
anyone reaching highest levels of achievement without devoting thousands
of hours to SERIOUS TRAINING.Even those who were believed to be exceptionally
talented required lengthy periods of STUDY and PRACTICE. Even any diligent
child could not excel in any thing, especially in absence, of expert teaching, encouragement
and unusual motivation.TALENT by itself to deliver goods, to me ,seems
a myth. It is 10% inspiration and 90% perspiration.

Ya Ali Madad:CERTAIN ASPECTS OF CULTURE WE CAN DO WITHOUT:The certain
unhealthy aspects that gotten into our culture-a throwback from the past-setup:BACK-BITING,JEALOUSY;GOSSIP;VENDETA;,LYING,UNFORGIVENESS,NAME-.CALLING
etc. Our rising educated generation,I am happy to note have complete absence
of these unwanted cultural tailings. But some folks have brought with them
in their baggage.Example:LYING is equated to FACE-SAVING. This is absolutely
wrong. It does not depict the catholicity of the Muslim-Ismaili spirit, the
unversality of its outlook and does not vitalise our culture in great tradition
of humanity.

materialsm-be-all is faltering. The high expectations that materialism
will solve all life's problem, has unfortunately failed us and added more
to anxiety. We need to turn to balanced attitude towards life-material and
spiritual. We need to guard vigilantly our tradition and ensure that it
is for good of ourselves and generation:these Muslim-Ismaili principles
will be upheld at all times. The ideals of botherhood, charity, fellowship, regular
prayers, helping those in need and redering volutary services, upholding
family values and consideration for others:THESE CAN GIVE MEANING TO LIFE
AND EXISTENCE.

I fully agree with views expressed by H.E.MOHAMED below. We have all
forgotten our temporary time and nature on this earth. Even BILL GATES
OF MICROSOFT is going to do die someday! HE IS NOT GOING TO TAKE HIS 50
BILLION WITH HIM! Man's desires and greed are like an endless pit, it will
never be fullfilled. Balanced life or the Middle Way is the best way to
live.

Dear Nina,TODAY'S ECONOMIC UNCERTAINTIES:Most of the lands have moved
to free-market capitalism. It is global phenomenon. And what we have?More
needy people in the world than before. The moral bottom has dropped out
of our culture. Eachone for himself. It is painfully evident that world's
political, economic, and social systems do not have permanent remedies for
today's immense problem and uncertainties. The wisdom lies for most us to
live within our means; to do away things we don't need and save for the
rainy days. Just tighten the belts, until situation remedies itself. To
live frugally is not to live miserly;but wisely.Don't put all eggs in one
basket. And whatever happened to our extended family system?(space!)

I am a college student who lives in Fullerton. I am impressed by this
web site and I hope to see more information about our faith easily available
on the web.
